Chapter 66, Page 1

"I don't know, Ed. If you tell Peridot what happened, you know she'll think I 'stole' you as revenge. She won't exactly be very happy with you either. I really think we should just keep it quiet. I don't want to tell Darren, either. He's no Peridot, but the truth would hurt him."

"The truth is the truth, Tamsin, even if it's painful, it's better to be upfront about it. I don't like the thought of having this lie between Peridot and myself. Aren't you uncomfortable at the thought of lying to Darren, of keeping up that lie for years, possibly for the rest of your life?"

"I'm equally uncomfortable with the thought of him knowing I slept with you," Tamsin answers, still uncomfortably attracted to Edward, and a bit disappointed he doesn't want to leave Peridot for her, even though she's not sure that she'd leave Darren for him.

"I knew there was something going on between you two!" Peridot storms in on their discussion.

"It's not what you think," Edward cries defensively.

Peridot folds her arms over her chest, "Tell me what it is, then."

Ed glances at Tamsin, and then spills it all out. "We slept together, once. It was an accident, and it won't happen again. We were just talking about it now, how we were going to explain it to you, and to Darren." With every word, Edward realizes he's digging himself in deeper, that all Peridot will hear is lies and conspiracy. But he keeps speaking, because it's the tuth, and he's always been faithful to that.

"Accident?" Peridot responds scathingly, "How was it an accident?"

"That was pretty lame, Ed," Tamsin has to agree. She had not at all set out to get revenge on Peridot, but she is scoring serious vengeance points nonetheless, and though she might lose Darren in the end, and gain nothing from it, it's still sweet. "We did what we did, it's no accident, but attraction, and we weren't discussing how we were going to tell Peridot and Darren, we were discussing if."
